The Book Bit: March 2020 Ed.

What a month this has been, am I right? I hope everyone is staying safe and being cautious, but I mostly hope that all of you are in excellent health. For those of us stuck at home until further notice, it can mean tons of time for extra reading! Well, my kids cut in on my reading time frequently, but I still managed to read three excellent books this month.


"Lone Wolf"- Jodi Picoult

You all know how much I love Jodi Picoult, so whenever I find myself in a slump I look into her collection and find one I haven't read. It'll be a sad day when I finally manage to read all of them. Do you guys have a go-to author?

This book was nothing short of heart-wrenching, loving, beautiful, and tragic.  Luke Warren has spent his life with the wolves. He runs a sanctuary, is a member of the pack, and even spent an entire year in the wild living within a wolf pack. His extended relationship with his pack led to familial disaster. His wife divorced him and his son moved to Thailand without so much as a goodbye. The only family he has by his side is teenage daughter, Cara. When Luke's son, Edward, gets a frantic call in the middle of the night that his father and sister were in a horrible car accident, he immediately returns home. Edward must make a decision, the hardest one he will make, but will Cara agree? Read along as this family struggles to come together and the emotional journey Luke takes through his life. You won't be disappointed with this adventurous and eye-opening book.


"The Fifth Letter"- Nicola Moriarty

Four friends, an annual summer trip, and a game of truth or dare. What could possibly go wrong? For friends Joni, Eden, Deb, and Trina what should have been a nice getaway quickly turns suspicious when they decide to anonymously write down their biggest secrets. It started easy. A way to air a problem and get advice from your closest friends without admitting your truth. But when Joni finds a fifth letter hidden in the fireplace, one with a sinister secret, she tries to secretly snuff out the author. As Joni struggles with which friend to trust she's also forced to look at her crumbling marriage and the choices she's made for herself. Will Joni be able to help her friends or will their secrets tear them apart for good? You won't want to put this one down! It's a fast-paced, exciting read that will keep you guessing until the final chapter.


"The Sun is Also a Star"- Nicola Yoon

This book was 100% sappy, romantic, over-the-top, outrageous, everything happens for a reason chemical disaster and I absolutely loved it! Even if you don't believe in destiny or love at first sight, I promise you will enjoy this. Natasha is having possibly the worst day of her life and most likely her last in America. Daniel, on his way to the biggest interview known to man, decides to ride the wind through the day before his date with destiny. Natasha and Daniel's meeting sets off a chain of reactions felt by many throughout New York City, but is their new found relationship headed for tragedy? If you believe in multiverses, time travel, old souls, deja vue, or just plan old "meant to be" you absolutely must read this book. It will restore your faith in humanity and the idea that any small act of kindness can shift someone's universe.


I'm really excited about what I'm reading in April! Though I'll be pulling from my personal library and electronic books this month, reading is reading.
