I'm going to keep this short and sweet today. June was a crazy month for us and I'm really glad it's over. I did manage to get some reading done, somehow, and I'd love to share what I read with you! This greatly exceeded my expectations! If you're looking to broaden your scope of rainbow books, I highly recommend this. I absolutely love reading indigenous authors and this was no exception. This collection of short stories was just what I was looking for during pride month. This is one of those books that you just keep on your shelf and peruse when you have a free twenty minutes. I know this is late! May was absolutely bananas over here. Like one of the busiest months I've had in a while and I'm still trying to recover. I have a May hangover, if you will. And I had to pull out all my tricks just to get through my reading this month, including changing up my original lineup! I never do that! Once I settle on my books, I follow through and I couldn't do it this month. Something had to give and it ended up being my final lineup. That being said, I still put away some good books this month, so let's chat about it.  "Dope" by Sara Gran   Josephine has been sober for almost two years when she gets commissioned to find a girl caught in the dope world. I know I say this every month, but time has just swept away this month. April was really weird for us and we were somehow swamped with stuff and yet not busy at all. Does that make any sense? And the weather? Usually April is our rainy season and we've had almost none this year. It's weird. Does this mean summer is going to be awful? I don't know, I'm all turned around honestly! April was also a weird reading month for me because I just couldn't get motivated to read. I read my first book really fast and then didn't pick another one up for two weeks! Hey all! The last few days have been absolutely beautiful weather for us and I'm so ready to move on from the cool temps. I have been *craving* the sunlight and am so happy we're finally getting it! Some of my bulbs are already coming up and my trees are starting to bloom - this time of year just instantly lifts my spirits. I hope it's the same for you, wherever you are. January was absolutely wild over here. I don't know where the month went, but I was busy for every minute of it! It simultaneously felt like the longest and shortest month ever. So, when October came around I was almost in a reading slump, but October is my favorite reading month! I read only horror books in October! Hey all! So, today's a bit of a weird one because I didn't really love any of the books I read this month 😭 This rarely happens for me and when it does it feels so... oddly personal? Reading one book and not loving it, sure that happens. You just brush it off and move on. But reading three books in a row that you don't really like... that's tough. That's enough to put you in a reading slump. Or make you question if you're the reason the book isn't stellar, not the book itself. It makes you worry that you'll never find a good book again. OK, well the summer is gone and the kids are settled into school! Did everyone survive? I always start August thinking I'm prepared for the mayhem that will ensue towards the end of the month, but I always, without fail, underestimate the craziness. And this August was no exception. It was hectic. It was stressful. It was not organized. It was not aesthetically pleasing. But we all made it through.
