The Book Bit: June 2019 Ed.

Hey everyone! I know, I'm a little late getting this out, but we've been traveling and it's finally been nice enough for the kids to play outside! You have no idea what a relief it is for the weather to have finally turned. My kids were completely stir crazy, first with the never-ending snow and then all the rain and flooding; finally there's sunshine to be enjoyed! So, without any more preamble, let's get down to business.

"The Beach"- Alex Garland

I choose this book for our book club this month and I was really impressed. There was a film adaptation that was <very loosely> based on this novel starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Has anyone seen it? Well, the book is better! We meet Richard as he's back packing around the world. While he enjoys the solitude most of the time, a little company is welcome here and there. The night he lands in Thailand, he meets a man that leaves him an interesting map, apparently a way to paradise. Teaming up with a fellow group of packers, they set out to find this elusive utopia located in a national park that's off limits to both locals and tourists.

Upon arrival, the beach is truly Eden; a tucked away paradise reserved for only those who've been invited. But, the longer Richard stays the more apparent it becomes that paradise cannot always remain in balance and some things may really be too good to be true.

This book could drag a little here and there, but the suspense build to the end was incredible. Lord of the Flies fans must read this book!


"The Last Time I Lied"- Riley Sager

I found this book in my personal library and decided to finally read it. Wow. I'm aggravated that I waited so long to pick it up.

When Emma found out she was to attend Camp Nightingale (a camp exclusively reserved for the most fabulous girls in school) she had no idea the three girls in her cabin would go missing after only a few days. Scarred by this past trauma, Emma turns to art as an adult and becomes quite the sensation.  And when a familiar camp owner shows up at her debut it brings back painful memories.

Not only is Camp Nightingale reopening after over a decade, but Emma decides to return. Maybe she wants closure, but maybe she wants answers. Proof. Follow Emma to Camp Nightingale as she tries to unravel her past, find her missing cabin mates, and move on with her life.

This book is loaded with twists and turns, paranoia, painful memories and lust. By the end of the book you won't know who to trust or what the truth really is. It's one wild ride.

Hey all! I hope summer is in full swing for everyone. We had a particularly long school year due to all the snow days we accrued. Luckily the weather is finally turning and we're getting more and more warm days. Unfortunately, we're also getting colossal amounts of rain. Like, too much. The Book Bit: Special Edition

Welcome to another special edition! I'm always so happy to work with authors and participate in blog tours, especially when it comes to this particular lady. I absolutely love Hannah Lynn's work! The Book Bit: Special Edition
